colour pallette inspiration.

My main inspiration for my colour pallette is from the Indian festival, Holi. Holi is celebrated by Hindus once a year. People throw coloured powder at each other as the celebration is all about colour.
I have found some more inspiring pictures for my colour pallette.

change of theme...

As i had lack of inspiration for the peacock theme, i decided to change my next brief to Hindu Gods. I am planning to go to India in the next year or two, there i will be able to gather plenty of inspiration for my peacock theme. There are hundreds of Gods in the Hindu religion, i have decided to select the 10/15 most colourful and popular ones. I have managed to paint 3 Gods using gouache paints. They flow very easily and are soo nice to blend with.

Lace.

Started nice and early this morning so that i have a longer day to work. Researched into many ideas as to what i could base my lace designs on. Keeping the Indian theme running from my previous project, i decided to look at peacocks. One of my friends is very fond of peacocks and this is what gave me the idea. I spent most of today getting in the rythm of drawing again and managed to put together this...

Leicester

After a busy week at New Designers, i decided to make a day trip to Leicester to meet some family and be at what is called India in England, the very famous Melton and Belgrave road, Rusheymead. From sarees to bangles to shrines to food. I was looking to see how i could further my project of mehndi and knew that Leicester would be the best and closest place for me to find inspiration.

I saw alot of colour but already use alot of that in all my projects and was looking to find something different.

On the saree's, i saw alot of lace as its in fashion and everywhere now. I have decided to start sketching lace designs, maybe with an Indian touch or maybe without. I am contemplating whether i should carry on the Indian theme or to move away from it completely. I must say, i do thoroughly enjoy it as it is very close to me and my culture and i can relate to it but it is best i give it a go and see how my designs turn out with the indian theme because i will never know otherwise.

I am really excited to get going and start drawing tomorro, nice and early!

will give you updates on the progress of my designs.

New Designers.

Sorry for the delay with my posts.I have been a busy bee getting inspiration from all over.

New Designers was such an AMAZING experience. Soo many interesting imaginative ideas around the whole centre from the new designers from the U.k. in fashion and textiles gave me plenty of inspiration for my next projects. Each day bought a different experience as spoke to members of the press and people from the industry. I walked around the exhibition for about half an hour each day and spotted something new every day. Combinations, colours, ideas etc.

I proudly present my exhibition to you all.

Samples.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! samples that i am happy to present!! ...so, i had them digitally printed, devored onto them and yesterday i printed with illuminating acids onto my sample fabrics! steamed them for 40 mins and washed them. The colours were just how i imagined and even better! i am going to add a few further techniques to a few of them like embroidery and heavy embelishment, foiling, puff binder, flocking etc. This is where i am at now.

Illustrations.

As i only had the computer for a few hours at uni today, i spent my few hours working on illustrations. I worked with different styles of dresses with my patterns, looking at what styles worked with what dresses. Spending my day tomorro flicking through magazines for market research and my technical file...and ofcourse starting up on my presentation which is on thursday morning!!

The final hurdle...

I keep reminding myself that the sky is the limit and anything is possible! I make a list every night of what i have already achived/done and what i need to achieve and what needs to be done!

24 days to go and the list follows...
statement of practise, bibliography, refrences, techincal file, CAD work, black and white a4 images of my designs, market research and the samples!
progression is on going, ALWAYS has been and ALWAYS wil be!! until the very end!!

samples are finally sent off...

Showed my final ideas to my tutor, to find that my work was pixelated in areas. To solve the problem of the pixels, i spent a whole day softening out the images on photoshop. Yesterday, i went and bought £90 worth of sequins for the final degree show to give the final touches of the Indian culture to my work. I made a few new samples that i had then learnt how to put into repeat. Early this morning, i sent off for my samples!!! which i am so relieved about now!! now to work on the other things until i get them back!

Writing up my technical file notes at the moment and adding small pictures of the images i have created on photoshop. Would like to get my technical file up to date by tomorrow and then i can just add to it every night with the new processes i wil do in the print room. Would also like to finish off any last bits of CAD work i have left to do by applying my images onto fashion and interiors.

Saturday & Sunday.

Yesterday i worked on creating lengths that i would wow myself by. I didnt neccessary like all of them but i liked more then i disliked which was a plus. I have come to learn that one persons trash is another persons tresure. What i dislike, someone else will love.
The scale is as what it would be in real life when the material gets printed. I have now got my usb ready to send over to a well known digital company in Birmingham who both wash and dry my samples within the price. After deciding which samples i am sending off, i decided that i should start to to think about sending off actual lengths. I have decided to send off 36 samples and 3 lengths which are a metre long and 135cm wide. They should arrive in about a weeks time so i look forward to showing you the outcomes of my digital prints! As for the problems at the start, i decided that after i created the usb stick with all my samples ready for posting tomorrow, that i could start some illustrations of my new samples! i got a few done but not quite as many as i wanted to. hopefully i wil be able to finish them off tomorrow.

Friday.

As I have been soo busy i have been unable to update my blog. My appologies to my followers. I was up until 1.30am working on the sheets for my screens. As my images are in an A4 sketchbook and i draw images half the size (a5) i enlargened each image to a huge scale. Soo huge that it comes right off the page. i LOVE working with huge oversized scales. Its different and unique. The images i was going to use for my screens were very blurry so i decided to go around each of my images to give them a smoother edge, with a sharpe permanent marker. Friday morning, i Coated an A0 size screen so that i could place lots of a3 images onto it without having to wash the screen every time i use an image and then wait for it to dry. I transfrerred my images onto the screens, washed them down to find that i had been washing it down for 45 mins!! i couldnt believe it!! print doesnt always mean that things will run as smoothly as u want them too!! i had coated the screen with the imulsion far too thick!! so it was taking forever to clean. I have taken pictures to show you how they look! i coated another screen that was much smaller and hey presto - it all worked well! I manage to reach my target and devore all the samples that i wanted to devore on.

getting my screens ready...

Planning to devore all my 26 samples that i have had digitally printed with a small design on and devoreing huge over sized images on top. VERY EXCITED!!!

Devore.

started to devore on my fabrics today. Recieved the digital prints that i created in the post yesterday. Had no clue what so ever what the prints would turn out to be like. I work with creating patterns over patterns and patterns within pattern. I am trying out digital prints that are tiny prints and i am going to devore with large designs. Pretty impressed with the outcomes of my samples!! pictures will be up shortlyyyyyyy :) xxx
